Let's hope that the recording industry can make a 100+ year-old format sound as good as it did - at least 25 or 30 years ago. Even with a bit of popping, the music still sounds pretty good and it's not as loud or compressed as the CD. I give Third Man Records credit for trying to make a good package: the LP is heavyweight, the album cover is a nice gatefold with a poster too. In comparison, The Consolers of The Lonely LP sounds pretty good.Unfortunately, I think the quality control and attention to making a great vinyl product has been lost in vinyl's recent resurgence - a lot of new records just sound bad, are defective or are scratched and warped brand new. I cleaned it well, and used anti-static gun, but still pretty noisy. I agree with other reviews: my copy of this pressing does have quite a bit of pops.I have old records that sound quieter than this one did first time played.
